Rand McNally Boston Ma Easyfinder Plus Map (Easyfinder Plus Map)
Published in Paperback by Rand McNally & Co (July, 1997)
Average review score:

Clear, useful, detailed and durable mapThis detailed, clear map is practically indispensable for navigating in Boston, whether on foot or by car. The laminated format makes it not only very durable, even after much use, but easily folded to show the segment of the city one needs. The detail is really excellent, showing many things including large and small streets, parkway access roads, points of interest, surrounding communities, Logan airport, etc. The map's clarity is much enhanced by the use of well-chosen color. It would be helpful if the names of Boston's many squares were regularly included, as these seem to be a prominent feature of navigation in Boston, and if possible, to indicate more of the one-way directions of streets. All in all, I find this an extremely useful and well-made map, highly recommended for navigation in a complicated but fascinating city.

Recommended Bed & Breakfasts Mid-Atlantic Region, 2nd
Published in Paperback by Globe Pequot Pr (October, 1999)
Average review score:

A reference work for your travel libraryA really helpful tool when planning a trip. Each entry has a list that front which includes contact info, how many rooms, extras, grounds, rates and directions. Then there's a writeup that gives you some flavor about the B&B, the owners, the interior design and the cooking. There are a set of indexes in the back that are really helpful for those seeking particular features (e.g. B&Bs with swimming pools, B&Bs that accept pets, near bodies of waters or mountain B&Bs) or particular location (B&Bs in the Finger Lakes region).

Rediscovering America: Exploring the Small Towns of Virginia
Published in Digital by Hunter Publishing, Inc. ()
Average review score:

Amazing and beautifulReturn to a time when life was simpler. Discover classic river towns, mountain retreats and coastal fishing villages, small towns where you can still shop on Main Street, where the hardware store and the bookstore are not part of a national chain, old buildings are restored and historic places are preserved. The Burnhams, also co-authors of The Virginia Handbook, have discovered and explored scores of these delightful towns. Destinations include Onancock, on Virginia's Eastern Shore; Irvington, a hip town built around The Tides resort; Strasburg and Front Royal, towns rich in Shenandoah Valley history; as well as coastal towns such as St. Michael's, Crisfield and St. Mary's. The places featured in this book have charming inns and B&Bs, in addition to good, locally owned restaurants. There are enough attractions to satisfy any traveler, but there is also space and time to tarry, to sit in a park or on a shaded bench and watch life pass by.

The Reservation
Published in Paperback by Syracuse Univ Pr (Trade) (September, 1985)
Average review score:

The ReservationI had the pleasure of working at a bookstore in Niagara Falls in 1976 when Ted Williams came to a book signing for this title. I just read the book recently (2000), because I was writing about the Tuscaroras and needed to learn more about their lives. Ted has preserved characters, legends, and numerous significant details of the lives of the Tuscarora. He regularly adds the Tuscaroran words where he can, which adds to the book's value. It's very readable, often funny.
I'm not a Tuscarora myself, but I would recommend this title to anyone interested in learning more about them.

Rhode Island: Amusement Parks (American Century)
Published in Paperback by Arcadia Tempus Publishing Group, Inc. (16 October, 1998)
Average review score:

Crescent Park...Gone but not Forgotten! This book is great because it contains tons of photos spanning the complete history of Crescent Park in Riverside, Rhode Island. It has become a treasured heirloom because most of my family (McCuskers, Phillips, and Martin's) grew up working at the park. Even though I wasn't around during the parks hayday, having been born in the mid-1970's, stories about the park still fascinate me to this day.

Road Trip USA: New England
Published in Paperback by Avalon Travel Publishing (10 May, 2001)
Average review score:

Getting There is All the Fun!I am enamoured with this book! I am planning my first trip to New England in August and this book makes usually dull trip preparations exciting.
Jensen sets out 5 separate road trips through New England, including a coastal route, several mountain routes, the Cape Cod trip, and an Appalachian trail route. We are planning to take the coastal route 1 and then route 3 through the White Mountains in New Hampshire.
So far, all of Jensen's advice has been excellent. Her lodging suggestions are affordable and up to date. She makes a point to highlight historic and unusual places that are representative of New England. I can't wait to go on the trip and report back!
